Thanks to Tony Marsh for taking these beautiful photos of the wildflower meadow at Borrowdale roundabout. Here’s what he observed:

“I spent some time yesterday late morning at the Suskes wildflower meadow to check out the insect life there. The numbers and variety of wildflowers were impressive, but I struggled to find much in the way of insects. Quite a few small Micro-moths, which I have loosely called Grass Veneer, but I only saw one butterfly, a Meadow Brown, (I didn’t manage a photo). Unfortunately, this is representative of a very poor year generally for butterflies. There were a few Bumblebees and Hoverflies and a lot fewer than I would have expected given the numbers of flowers around. I also snapped some of the lichen on one of the tree trunks.”
